Hi everyone,

We finally have a version of the awesome Bananian running on the BPI-R1 router.
(NOTE: This is not an official version from the Bananian team)

You can download it.....
HERE: MEGA
or HERE: GOOGLE DRIVE

It is stock Bananian 14.11 with the following changes:
  1. - KERNEL: Added swconfig and B53 switch drivers (from OpenWRT)
  2. - KERNEL: Added AX88179 Drivers for USB3.0 Ethernet adapters

  3. - USERSPACE: Enabled 8021q kernel module (VLAN Support)
  4. - USERSPACE: Added /usr/sbin/swconfig (This tool is used to configure the switch)
  5. - USERSPACE: Added /etc/network/if-pre-up.d/swconfig (This sets up the switch on boot - using the above tool)
  6. - USERSPACE: Modified /etc/network/interfaces (To setup vlans to be used with above switch setup)
Copy the Code
Simply burn the image as normal (Win32 Disc Imager etc).

It is setup to use the WAN port as eth0.101 (DHCP) and the other 4x ports are set as eth0.102 (MANUAL) by default.
So, plug your ethernet cable into the WAN port (right most port) and you will get an IP address and now are ready to SSH.

Default user/pass is same as Bananian (root / pi)

You can change the lines in /etc/network/if-pre-up.d/swconfig to link the ports to different VLANS etc.
Remember to also edit /etc/network/interfaces to match

The swconfig port number are

|2|1|0|4|  |3|
(looking at front of ports)

The bananian-config tool works fine - can resize partion etc all OK.
Note: bananian-update will mostly like break the system (if there is a new update) as the above changes are not in the main Bananian system (yet?)

For more in-depth info about the build, you can read the discussion / work thread here

The kernel source for the image can be found here

Big thanks to Mr Bananian, x4711, & Shadowmaster
Hi mattrix,

thank you for the hard work! Your changes will be integrated in the next Bananian release.
I'll see if it is possible to allow updating from your inofficial build to the next official release using bananian-update.

Do you have a git(hub) repository I can clone?

Get a decryption error if i Try to access the  link https://mega.co.nz/#!uBxGyC4B!7I ... FBcoARhpApbxnMfivT0

Argh. I have the file at home and I'm here at work for another 7 hours, so won't be until I get home sorry

Should of tried the link last night, but the GF was nagging me to watch a movie with her so rushed it.

But, it does work perfect (as far as I can tell) so worth the wait

go to mega,,,,
make a new link now put INCLUDE FILE KEY.,....
if you export the file link...
do this from web browser ;)
then you get a new file link with key.... then I may work.

Giving me same link, you could try this workaround

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_LAeJvWQrg

Meantime, i'm trying to download it directly via my mega page, and hopefully that works.
Then, I can re-upload.
My up speed is very slow, so may take awhile still

Nope. No luck sorry.

May just have to wait that little big longer

It's a good image and works - so worth the wait
