Hello everybody,

After an happy purchase of a Banana Pi for my experiments I got it to work as wanted with a Bananian 15.04 image.
Evewrything has been configured on my TV with HDMI, but, now I should put back the Banana to a VGA monitor. I bought an adapter ( this  is the adapter) but I get no signal to the monitor that stays to standby (orange light).

For what I could understand I should edit someting in a script.bin but I cannot find it anywhere:

  1. find / -name script.bin
Copy the Code

returns no results.

Can anyone put me on the right way? Thanks

To find the scripts.bin I had to mount the first partition
  1. mount /dev/mmcblk0p1 /mnt
Copy the Code

now I can access uEnv.txt and scripts.bin, I also managed to edit the fex file and rebuild the .bin

script.fex
  1. [disp_init]
  2. disp_init_enable = 1
  3. disp_mode = 0
  4. screen0_output_type = 4
  5. screen0_output_mode = 5
  6. screen1_output_type = 2
  7. screen1_output_mode = 11
  8. fb0_framebuffer_num = 2
  9. fb0_format = 10
  10. fb0_pixel_sequence = 0
  11. fb0_scaler_mode_enable = 1
  12. fb1_framebuffer_num = 2
  13. fb1_format = 10
Copy the Code
uEnv.txt
  1. bootargs=console=ttyS0,115200 console=tty0 disp.screen0_output_mode=800x600p60 console=tty1 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootfstype=ext4 elevator=deadline rootwait
  2. aload_script=fatload mmc 0 0x43000000 script.bin;
  3. aload_kernel=fatload mmc 0 0x48000000 uImage; bootm 0x48000000;
  4. uenvcmd=run aload_script aload_kernel
Copy the Code

But this does not work. The  monitor stays to Power Saving Mode.

Did you test the adapter, i.e. with another HDMI device? Maybe it needs too much power - HDMI only guarantees 55mA on its 5V line, and while many consumer devices provide more, the BPi might not.

Dear hawhill,

I just tested the adapter with a HDMI-out of a laptop and it works correctly. The image is shown correctly on the monitor.

Any other ideas? I'm sure it's a misconfiguration issue.

Just an account:
I use one a HDMI>VGA Adapter* on my Banana PI and it perfectly runs (without writing any line of code)!
Moreover, it is connected to the port VGA of my screen TFT HD 1080p, via a KVM.

Dear billshut, could you please attach your script.bin here?

In fact, I use now 2 "script.bin" alternately: "script.bin.HDMI" and "script.bin.LVDS". I can pass of the one to the other by using a shortcut on my desktop (a thrower of script who simply copies one of them into "script.bin"), followed by an automatic restart.
Here were thus 2 scripts. script.bin.HDMI.tar.gz (16.92 KB, Downloads: 49)

Concerning your problem, maybe the solution is somewhere else.
Most of the adapters HDMI>VGA work only with screens TFT and not CRT.
It's the case for mine (it seems to me).

Thanks.

Your HDMI script.bin and this uEnv.txt worked for me. Now I see correctly the screen on my FLATRON monitor.
  1. bootargs=console=ttyS0,115200 console=tty0 disp.screen0_output_mode=EDID:1920x1080p60 console=tty1 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootfstype=ext4 elevator=deadline rootwait
  2. aload_script=fatload mmc 0 0x43000000 script.bin;
  3. aload_kernel=fatload mmc 0 0x48000000 uImage; bootm 0x48000000;
  4. uenvcmd=run aload_script aload_kernel
Copy the Code

Thanks
