Hi,
I would like to know if i can supply the banana pi by the GPIO connector 3 with ground and 5v pins ?
Regards,
Philippe
I don't try it , but I suggested you'd better not do that.

Ok, thanks.

Hi Philippe.
Have you tested power supply of the banana pi by the GPIO connector 3 with ground and 5v pins ?
Is possible to use it on this way?

Hi Ivan,
Yes, I had tested with no result. It isn't possible.
I don't want to use the micro USB port to supply the BPi.
So I soldered 2 cables under the BPi...

The white cable is the ground, and the green is the plus on a little place : between U14 and 5.0v.

An another way to powered the BPI is the sata power connector.
I test it and works fine :

I am curious... why can't the GPIO header be used to supply 5V?

Yes, it cann't. I also be confusing when I use some expansion board for RP on BP.

ok, thanks

For expansion boards:

- how much current can BPi supply on the 5V GPIO header?

- how much current can BPi supply on the 3V GPIO header?

Hi, I also tried to power it via GPIO because I knew that it worked on Raspberry PI. Sadly, it doesn't.

@Phi___ nice to see that it works via the sata supply. Did you install an extra fuse?
