Though /usr/src/linux-headers-3.1.10-6-ac100 is the only kernel source code include with the Lubuntu image, its NOT the source code to the running kernel.

The running Kernel is 3.4.90 as per uname -a:

  1. Linux lemaker 3.4.90 #2 SMP PREEMPT Tue Aug 5 14:11:40 CST 2014 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux
Copy the Code

You won't get a working kernel module for the running kernel by compiling against an older source, you need the source used to build the running kernel.   Only tom_zhang likely has that with all the build artifacts ($KDIR/scripts/modpost).   Best I could do was to checkout the source from LeMaker's git hub.
  1. sudo git clone https://github.com/LeMaker/linux-bananapi.git /usr/src/linux-$(uname -r)
Copy the Code

I should mention, I don't actually know what the procedure is to rebuild + install a kernel on Lubuntu on BPi...   It's a bit different then standard Linux on a PC which you would drop it into /boot and run grub-update.

is there any way to run opengl applications with this.
I'm happy video playback works and i am searching for a usable interface (it does not have to be xmbc) to conveniently playback stuff.
Does bananian have opengles ?

Could you tell us how you got subtitles working?

MPV or Mplayer are currently your best options. It's not possible to get an OSD at the moment. I can highly recommend MPV, it has great keyboard setup and it's easy to configure. Once you get it running it's just clik and play.
@ Olee

You seem to need the FBTurbo G2D driver, after that it's pretty easy:

https://linux-sunxi.org/Cedrus#OSD_support , no support for alpha only surfaces though but I'm sure either MPV or Mplayer has a compatibility option for that. The README @ https://github.com/linux-sunxi/libvdpau-sunxi however mentions:

This partly breaks X11 integration due to hardware limitations. The videoarea can't be overlapped by other windows. For fullscreen use this is noproblem.

The link at page 7 seems not to be working anymore... Can you please create another one ?

Link @ page 8 (first post) is working well.

Thx nnn2, your debian version is awsome, that is exacly, what I was looking for. I just had to configure timezone, keyboard layout, system language and passwords
Played big buck bunny in 1080p h264, playback is near perfect. If you concentrate and watch, there are some damn small lags, but fine for me.
Edit: Sorry, playback is perfect, if you close all unnecessary programs. Before, I had terminal and webbrowser open

Guys, I know the xbmc is the ultimate target and play ...

Hi nnn2, I've read that you were trying to port Popcorn but it was not so easy.
What about the Mplayer interface you mentioned in post #38? Did you get something working like that?
Anyway, thank you for your great image!!
