8 channel HDMI audio

3 586
I purchased a banana pi in the hope that I can connect it to my AV receiver and get a 7.1 output and set up a pulseadio sound server over the network.

I found that I can only output two channels with the HDMI interface.

My first try was to pass some kind of DTS or AC3 stream to the receiver as is mentioned here
http://forum.lemaker.org/thread-15577-1-1.html
but I can't create a pulseaudio sink for that.

I found this patch for the sunxi kernel that might help with that but I don't know how to make my own bananian build

Can someone help me with that?

I am developing and supporting an kernel / image build script. Take a look:
https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib

It should save you a lot of your time.

Thank you!

I managed to compile a kernel and tested it
I also made a PR against the bananian kernel
https://github.com/Bananian/linux-bananapi/pulls

My main concern now is how to mainline it so I don't have to patch the kernel every time
