Problems adding a SSD via SATA II

1 1017
Hello Guys,

i have a banana pro running a bananian on a 8gb SD-card. Now i want to add a 500GB SSD (OCZ ARC100).
I tried to create a partition table and a partition which does not work.
Here my
  1. fdisk -l
Copy the Code

output:

  1. Disk /dev/sda: 447.1 GiB, 480103981056 bytes, 937703088 sectors
  2. Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
  3. Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
  4. I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
  5. Disk /dev/mmcblk0: 7.5 GiB, 8019509248 bytes, 15663104 sectors
  6. Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
  7. Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
  8. I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
  9. Disklabel type: dos
  10. Disk identifier: 0x0ccea0b3

  11. Device         Boot Start     End Sectors  Size Id Type
  12. /dev/mmcblk0p1       2048   43007   40960   20M 83 Linux
  13. /dev/mmcblk0p2      43008 3710936 3667929  1.8G 83 Linux
Copy the Code
with parted i can also see the model:

  1. (parted) print
  2. Error: /dev/sda: unrecognised disk label
  3. Model: ATA OCZ-ARC100 (scsi)
  4. Disk /dev/sda: 480GB
  5. Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
  6. Partition Table: unknown
  7. Disk Flags:
  8. (parted)
Copy the Code

I tried several times to create a partition tabel, a partition and a file system. Here is what i do with p
  1. (parted) mklabel gpt
  2. (parted) mkpart
  3. Partition name?  []? sda1
  4. File system type?  [ext2]? ext4
  5. Start? 1GB
  6. End? 400GB
  7. (parted) print
  8. Model: ATA OCZ-ARC100 (scsi)
  9. Disk /dev/sda: 480GB
  10. Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
  11. Partition Table: gpt
  12. Disk Flags:

  13. Number  Start   End    Size   File system  Name  Flags
  14. 1      1000MB  400GB  399GB  ext4         sda1
Copy the Code

So far, so good. But when i then try to list the partition with fdisk, it isnt there.

  1. Disk /dev/sda: 447.1 GiB, 480103981056 bytes, 937703088 sectors
  2. Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
  3. Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
  4. I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
  5. Disk /dev/mmcblk0: 7.5 GiB, 8019509248 bytes, 15663104 sectors
  6. Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
  7. Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
  8. I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
  9. Disklabel type: dos
  10. Disk identifier: 0x0ccea0b3

  11. Device         Boot Start     End Sectors  Size Id Type
  12. /dev/mmcblk0p1       2048   43007   40960   20M 83 Linux
  13. /dev/mmcblk0p2      43008 3710936 3667929  1.8G 83 Linux
Copy the Code
The same with creating partition table and partition with fdisk.
Even mounting does not work.

  1. 32 root@bananapi /home/grieme # mkdir /tmp/old                               :(
  2. root@bananapi /home/grieme # mount /dev/sda1 /tmp/old
  3. mount: special device /dev/sda1 does not exist
  4. 32 root@bananapi /home/grieme #
Copy the Code
Is there something wrong with the file system or is my device defect? Its a brand new. Never used.

Thanks for help

Malte
