PARIS, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron's approval ratings were hit by fresh decline as more French people regarded him as "a bad president", a poll showed on Tuesday.

An Odoxa survey for L'express, France inter radio and regional newspapers said Macron collecting 44 percent of positive rating in September, sharply down from 58 percent of favorable opinions reported in June.

"In two months, we report collapse of the President's popularity. Henceforth, 56 percent of the French think that he is a bad president. It's worse than (former head of state) Francois Hollande at the same period," the pollster said.

After a short-lived honeymoon at the Elysee Palace, Macron, once the country's political star, saw his public support tumbling as anger over proposed labor reform continued.

Last week, thousands of people took to the streets in French cities to express their refusal of the president's reform to lessen rigid labor rules to create more jobs.

Further mass demonstrations are planned for this week in what labor unions and opponents hope will prove big enough show of force to make Macron reconsider the reform.
