i was able to boot 3.17-rc1 sunxi-next branch from http://github.com/mripard/linux.git
My Arch Linux ARM system is working but there are many downsides still.

Here are the results of my testings:


- fully boot
- SMP via PSCI Interface


- eth is working but extremly unstable
  1. [    7.374912] stmmaceth 1c50000.ethernet: no reset control found
  2. [    7.521183] libphy: stmmac: probed
  3. [    7.541611] eth0: PHY ID 001cc915 at 0 IRQ POLL (stmmac-0:00) active
  4. [    7.579649] eth0: PHY ID 001cc915 at 1 IRQ POLL (stmmac-0:01)
  5. [   25.243882] stmmaceth 1c50000.ethernet eth0: Link is Up - 1Gbps/Full - flow control rx/tx

!! You need a U-boot with PSCI support from git://git.denx.de/u-boot-sunxi.git in order to get both cpu cores working !!

To get the new U-Boot bootloader that is needed for SMP:
  1. git clone git://git.denx.de/u-boot-sunxi.git
  2. cd u-boot-sunxi
  3. ./tools/genboardscfg.py
  4. make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-unknown-linux-gnueabihf- Bananapi_config
  5. make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-unknown-linux-gnueabihf-

Copy to SD-card:
  1. dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=1k count=1023 seek=1
  2. dd if=u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin of=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=1024 seek=8

Tried with 3.17-rc3 yesterday following your instructions.

Unfortunately the kernel could'n find partitions on the SD card so it didn't mount root. Root on SATA worked though.

Both cores work, no internat ethernet but an USB ethernet adapter is fine.

Important to me is, that the Pinacle 461e pctv driver works.

I also tried to fiddle around with the experimental/sunxi-3.14 branch of the linux-bananapi repository. But as there are only a few configs in the arch/arm/configs/sunxi_defconfig preset, I was pretty sure, that it doesn't make much sense at the moment.

I'm really looking forward in the progress of the kernel, although I know 3.4 is a LTS release.
