After installing wpasupplicant and reboot the System never boot again. Still Crash ...

There seems to be a problem with the rtl8192cu driver.
I tried to setup a hotspot using a Edimax USB WiFi dongle but I get a kernel panic as soon as I try to connect to the WLAN created on the banana pi. To bad

If it's driver related, why not trying with another distribution, like Gentoo ?

Check https://github.com/LeMaker/linux ... d54bc20f89ebe6a2922

Looks like there is/was a problem with the 8192cu.
Bananian 14.09 will include this patch.

You are right. After compiling the latest version of the kernel it works. I still need a special hostapd binary for this to work but no crashes anymore.

Looking forward for 14.09

great News ... so is there a plan for release 14.09 ?

Yes, 14.09 will be released this week. The release will be announced on www.bananian.org and Tony will also post a news here in the forum.

Hi All,

with 14.09 I had success with an Atheros based stick. But I had to install some packages manually, cause the firmware-* packages which are in "virgin" 14.09, are not enough to get WLAN up and running

Namely I had to install:
  1. libnl-3-200_3.2.7-4_armhf.deb
  2. libnl-genl-3-200_3.2.7-4_armhf.deb
  3. iw_3.4-1_armhf.deb
  4. libreadline5_5.2+dfsg-2~deb7u1_armhf.deb
  5. libpcsclite1_1.8.4-1+deb7u1_armhf.deb
  6. libdbus-1-3_1.6.8-1+deb7u3_armhf.deb
  7. wpasupplicant_1.0-3+b1_armhf.deb
  8. libiw30_30~pre9-8_armhf.deb
  9. wireless-tools_30~pre9-8_armhf.deb
Copy the Code
I had to loop mount a Debian armhf isoimage to get this done, so this is also a feature request: please preinstall this packages in 14.10

cheers
