Boot Stoped in: Waiting for root device...

Hi Guys,

I recently bought 3 Banana Pi and one of them is not booting. It stop with the message:
"Waiting for root device /dev/
mmcblk0p2"

There's no problem with SD Card or Power Adapter becaus it works fine when used with the others two boards.

Could you help me to solve this?

Thanks
Fabricio

Someone can help me on this error?

Seems to be a reading error.
Did you try with the others SD cards? or this error happens with all of them?
Also, have you tried with other distros as well?

Maybe be the sd card slot in the broken banana pi has broken.

Hi,
I have the same issue with a Banana pi M1.
I tried several sd cards and OS images, it always stop in "Waiting for root device /dev/mmcblk0p2".
My sd cards always seem have the two right partitions.
I own many other arm computers, raspberry pi, sheevaplug and mk802, and never had this kind of problem.
Tomorow, I will try usb root device.

I had few issues with class 4 SD cards. Don't know the reason why it would not work with it. the SD card was really fine.
Try with a microsd card with SD card adapter. This helped me.

Hi,
I had the same issue with a banana pi. I sent it back and got a new one which works like expected. Because I use the same SD-card in the new one (I didn't rewrite it) and I also use the same power-adapter, to me it seems to be a hardware failure.
Best, Bernie.
