Secured file access to drag files from my notebook to the SATA-Hard disk connected to the Banana Pi. (No media streaming atm)

I have just installed OpenMediaVault on Bananian. It's working really well. There are also some nice extentions available.

To Install OMV on Bananian you need to do the following steps:
  1. sudo su
  2. wget -O - http://packages.openmediavault.org/public/archive.key | apt-key add -
  3. apt-add-repository "deb http://packages.openmediavault.org/public kralizec main"
  4. apt-get update
  5. apt-get install openmediavault-keyring postfix
  6. apt-get update
  7. apt-get install openmediavault
  8. omv-initsystem
  9. reboot
Copy the Code

@chris89: Thank you!

But apt-get-repository don't work on bananian.

We must do
  1. apt-get install python-software-properties
Copy the Code
before it work.

Hi everyone,

I'm a complete newbie with the banana pi. I just installed bananian and now want to install OMV on it to run my own NAS. I followed @Chris89 installation code but couldn' t run OMV. I later saw Frank_M remark about
But apt-get-repository don't work on bananian.
and added it. First of all: Was the addition of
apt-get install python-software-properties
ok? Or do I have to remove the complete OMV package (how?) and start fresh?

Can someone please help with a proper installation instruction + running/ starting/ accessing OMV would be great.

Thanks in advance!

P.S.: Please be patient with me :-) I barely have any linux knowledge

So why don't you give a ready-to-run OMV image a try? http://bananas.gda.pl/pobierz/

Hi tkaiser,

thanks for your reply. I somehow managed to install and run OMV on bananian now. Tried the whole process several times and at the end it worked. I'm pretty sure it isn't installed correctly but I'll check it out first. If I'm not getting along, I check out another image.

Since the installation I can't access the banana pi via putty. Any idea why? Web GUI of OMV works (with the same IP adress).

EDIT: Ok, In "Services" you have to enable/ activate SSH. Learning by doing
